Gatekeeper is a world with 8 realms, all of which have their own creatures and landscapes that are unique to themselves. In between each realm is a vast ocean called The Disembodied Deep, many try to cross the deep but die trying. There is one realm that is above all the other realms, it is referred to as The Upper Realm. There are four magic gates that connect the realms together. Each gate empowers people with a magical ability that gives them immense strength. Only by passing through these gates can someone easily travel from one realm to another safely. More importantly, one can travel to the sacred center gate, also known as the Gate of Eternal Life. When a creature has control of the center gate they gain access to The Upper Realm, and inturn, access to all 8 realms. It is said that whoever controls the center gate, will have the combined power of all 4 gates. They will become the Gatekeeper, the soulreaper, the one who protects but also destroys. And there will be no one who can stop them from achieving whatever they want.
It is the goal of all who are good and honorable to keep control of the center gate neutral, so that no single man or creature may have a power that will surely corrupt them into an abomination.
